Semarang, February 21, 2024 – Lecturers from the Fishery Product Technology Study Program, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences at Diponegoro University, have secured a patent for their latest innovation, which is expected to significantly contribute to the advancement of the fisheries sector. This achievement underscores the university’s commitment to producing impactful and innovative research.
The patent was awarded to a team of experts in Fishery Product Technology, including Prof. Dr. Ir. Fronthea Swastawati, M.Sc., Ir. Sumardianto, PG.Dpl., M.Gz., Dr. Putut Har Riyadi, S.Pi, M.Si, and Lukita Purnamayanti, STP., M.Sc. These researchers have long been involved in various studies aimed at enhancing the quality and added value of fishery products.
The patented inventions by the team include:
- Chikuwa Made from Catfish (Clarias) with the Addition of Liquid Smoke
- Production Process of Mangrove Pedada Fruit Vinegar (Sonneratia Alba)
- Method for Producing Powdered Shrimp Paste (Acetes) with the Addition of MgCO3 as an Anti-Caking Agent
- Method for Applying Purple Coloring Using Sweet Potatoes in Shrimp Paste
These innovations are expected to address key challenges in the fisheries industry, such as improving product quality, extending shelf life, and enhancing market appeal. The university hopes this achievement will inspire other lecturers and researchers at Diponegoro University to continue contributing to impactful research and innovations that benefit society.
