Salatiga, November 13, 2024 – In an effort to improve the quality and competitiveness of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) in Salatiga City, lecturers from the Fisheries Product Technology Program at the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Diponegoro University, Semarang, have been actively conducting educational sessions on the importance of product packaging. These sessions also include training on creating effective packaging for processed fisheries products. The training, targeting various UMKM sectors, provides in-depth knowledge on selecting appropriate packaging types, creating accurate product labels, and designing attractive packaging.

The training, held on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, offered valuable insights for UMKM participants. Attendees were taught about different types of packaging suitable for their products, ranging from primary to secondary packaging, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of each type and safe materials for food products. The training also emphasized the importance of complete and accurate labeling. Participants learned about essential label components, such as product name, ingredient list, production date, expiration date, and nutritional information.

Additionally, the training covered principles of good design, including color selection, typography, and effective layout. Participants were also guided on how to create unique packaging designs tailored to their target markets. This initiative aims to empower UMKM owners with the skills and knowledge needed to enhance their product appeal and marketability, ultimately contributing to the growth and sustainability of their businesses.
